The Rise of the Wolves
…and the wolves will rise from the ashes and bring the fury of winter to all those who have done them wrong.
#because Snow White & the Huntsman is secretly a GoT spin-off
She has been blinded, to train her to use her other senses: recognize lies from the tone, walk and work without seeing, even fight. She goes over her list of names, but remembers that was someone else, not her, she was no one.
I am no one. I am no one. I am no one. I am no one. I am no one.
She repeats this to herself like a mantra each time she does her training. Yet sometimes, for a second or two she would see a vision of piercing blue eyes and in that one brief moment, she was Arya Stark again.
…She remembered the last time that she saw him. The day before the final battle. It was on this very beach that for the first and last time, he had made her his. There was never a day in the past ten years that she did not miss him.
I wish you were here Gendry.
Arya was brought back from her reverie by a persistent tugging on her skirt.
Mother? What was father like?
Arya could think of a thousand answers to that question. Gendry was her world. Her best friend. Her saving grace.
He was strong, my son. He was strong.
..He refused to believe that she is dead. He would not believe it. When he heard of Arya Stark marrying the bastard Bolton, Gendry travelled all the way to Winterfell just see her. He would know her anywhere, even if every skin on her body is covered with an inch thick of mud and grime. He would know her and that woman in Winterfell was not his Arya.
She is alive. She has to be.
So every night before Gendry goes to bed he would pray to the old gods and the new, to any diety who care to listen. Keep her safe. Keep her safe.
And every night Gendry would dream of a shadowly figure walking alone in the dark killing some faceless stranger. He would call out to her.
Arya! Remember who you are. Come back to the light. Come back to me.
For one brief second she would look back to him and stormy grey eyes would meet icy blue ones.
And Gendry would wake up panting and sweating.
